Vestibular Therapy in Bolingbrook.

If the room spins when you roll over, or the floor feels unreliable, the system behind that can be retrained.

What It Is

Your balance isn’t broken. It’s out of sync.

You roll over in bed and the ceiling keeps going. You turn down a grocery aisle and the shelves swim. So you stop turning your head quickly, stop looking up, and start planning your day around not setting it off.

Balance is a three-way conversation between your inner ear, your eyes, and your body. When the inner ear part of that conversation gets disrupted, you get vertigo, motion sensitivity, and that constant low-grade unsteadiness. Vestibular therapy retrains the system instead of covering the symptom.

You’re the one everybody else rides with. Nobody wants to say out loud that the room moves, so it goes unmentioned for months. What we do with it is specific: repositioning maneuvers for inner ear crystals, gaze stabilization for head motion, balance and walking retraining, and gradual exposure to the movements that set you off.

What A Session Looks Like

Yes, we may make you dizzy. Briefly, and on purpose.

1

You start seated, telling Dr. Moy exactly which movements set it off. Nothing gets tested before he knows that.

2

Some tests do bring symptoms on. He tells you first, keeps them short, stays with you, and stops when you say stop.

3

You leave sitting until it settles, with two or three exercises and a plan for the next flare.

Why It Works

Steady is a skill you can get back.

The room stops moving when you do.

A quick head turn stops costing you the afternoon.

Fewer near misses on stairs and curbs.

You stop asking someone else to drive.

Questions, Answered

What people ask about vestibular therapy.

Your first visit starts with a cause-first evaluation, not a treatment off a menu. Vestibular Therapy is used when the evaluation says it is the right tool for what is driving your symptoms, and it is delivered one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy for the full hour.

Amplify Physical Therapy and Wellness is in network with BCBS PPO and Medicare, and out of network with Aetna and United Healthcare. There is also a cash-based option with the price agreed up front. We check your benefits before your first visit so you know the cost before you commit.

Most patients feel meaningful change within 4 to 6 visits. Your plan moves through the four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform, and Prevent, so there is a defined endpoint rather than an open-ended run of appointments.
