Neck Pain treatment in Bolingbrook.

The mirror check instead of the shoulder check. The pillow you keep replacing. It’s fixable, and it starts with a cause-first evaluation, not a guess.

Sound Familiar?

Does this sound like your day?

  • Backing out of the driveway on the mirrors, because turning your head isn’t worth it
  • A stack of pillows you rearrange twice a night, and still wake up locked to one side
  • The 3pm ache that creeps from your neck into your shoulder blade, right on schedule
  • Holding your phone up at eye level so you never have to look down at it
  • Pins and needles in two fingers that show up while you’re typing
  • Turning your whole body to talk to the person sitting right next to you

Why It Happens

Neck pain is a symptom. Something causes it.

Your neck holds up a ten pound head all day, every day. When it hurts, it’s rarely one thing. It’s usually a mix: small neck joints that stiffened up and stopped sharing the work. Upper traps doing a job the deep neck muscles quit doing. A nerve root getting crowded, which is what sends pain or tingling into the arm. And a setup you repeat 200 times a day: monitor a little low, phone a little lower, one shoulder always carrying the bag.

None of that shows up in a quick glance or on a printout. It takes a cause-first evaluation to find which one is actually driving yours. That’s why a massage helps for two days and a stretching sheet does nothing: they treat the sore spot, not the source. You’re the one everybody at work leans on. Which is exactly why you’ve worked through this for months, and exactly why you’re reading this now. One hour with Dr. Moy is how it stops being a mystery.

The Honest Truth

Waiting on a neck doesn’t make it wait on you.

If you keep waiting

  • The ache stops being a workday thing and starts following you home on weekends
  • Your shoulder and jaw start covering for the neck, and start hurting too
  • You lose rotation so slowly you stop noticing, until a lane change reminds you

If you start this week

  • You know whether it’s the joint, the muscle, or the nerve by the end of visit one
  • Hands-on work on the stiff segments starts before you leave the building
  • You get a plan with an endpoint: a real one, not an open tab of visits

Nobody regrets starting too early. Every week, someone in our clinic says they regret waiting.

How We Fix It

The same four phases. Built for your neck.

Every plan has an endpoint. Here’s what the four phases look like for a neck.

Weeks 1–2

Pain

Sleep through the night again.

Hands-on work to the irritated joints and guarded muscles, plus dry needling when it fits, starting your very first visit.

Weeks 2–6

Prime

Check your blind spot again.

Targeted mobility restores rotation in the neck and mid-back segments that have been quietly guarding.

Weeks 6–10

Perform

Make it strong enough to trust.

Deep neck and shoulder blade strengthening, so your upper traps stop doing a job they were never built for.

Weeks 10+

Prevent

Long days stop costing you.

Your desk, your sleep position, and your lifting habits get rebuilt and tested, so the flare doesn’t come back: that’s the endpoint, not just another appointment.

Andrew is a great Physical Trainer. He pushed me to work on my problematic area, the left knee. He was very attentive to my issue, the problems surrounding it, and the solutions to fix it. His guidance produced results I could feel within a week or two. My pain and tightness is now entirely gone. What I believe to be the best help Andrew provided, was how to help yourself. He knows you shouldn't have to go to physical therapy for the rest of your life (depending on severity) and provided me with routines, stretches, workouts, timelines, etc. that I can use going forward. These resources were and are crucial for continuing my life pain free. Andrew also worked outside of his typical hours to see and work with me. The hard work Andrew puts forth is clear. Thank you so much Andrew for all the help and resources! You are a life saver!

Questions, Answered

What people ask before booking for neck pain.

Most patients feel meaningful change within 4 to 6 visits. A full plan runs through all four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform, and Prevent, usually over 8 to 10 weeks depending on how long you have been dealing with it. Either way you get a plan with an endpoint, so you always know which phase you are in and what is left.

No. Illinois has direct access, so you can book an evaluation with a Doctor of Physical Therapy without a physician referral. Some insurance plans still ask for one before they will pay, so we check your benefits before your first visit and tell you exactly where you stand.

Yes. Every session at Amplify Physical Therapy and Wellness is one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, every visit, for the full hour.
