Weeks 1–2
Pain
Calm the joint down.
Hands-on work and smarter daily loading settle the irritated joint or tendon, starting your very first visit.
What We Treat
The stairs you take one at a time. The chair you push out of with both arms. It’s fixable, and it starts with a cause-first evaluation, not a guess.

Why It Happens
Your hip, knee, and ankle work as one chain. That’s why the knee is so often the joint that complains about somebody else’s problem. A hip that can’t hold your leg in line leaves the knee absorbing the difference on every step. Glutes that quietly stopped pulling their weight. A tendon at the front of the knee loaded past what it can currently handle. A stiff hip joint or ankle that shifts the work somewhere it doesn’t belong. Stairs and squats just make it obvious.
Where it hurts and what’s causing it are frequently two different places. That’s exactly what a cause-first evaluation sorts out, and it’s why generic quad exercises so often go nowhere. You’re the one who shows up sore and gets on with it anyway. Nothing about that was weakness. It’s just why this has gone on for two years instead of eight weeks.
The Honest Truth
Nobody regrets starting too early. Every week, someone in our clinic says they regret waiting.
How We Fix It
Every plan has an endpoint. Here’s what the four phases look like for a hip or a knee.
Weeks 1–2
Pain
Hands-on work and smarter daily loading settle the irritated joint or tendon, starting your very first visit.
Weeks 2–6
Prime
Hip, knee, and ankle mobility work restores the range that stairs, squats, and getting off the floor actually require.
Weeks 6–10
Perform
Progressive glute and quad strengthening rebuilds the support the joint has been missing, so it stops absorbing everything.
Weeks 10+
Prevent
Real steps, real distance, real load get tested before you’re cleared to go all-in: that’s the endpoint, not just another appointment.
Andrew was awesome in my rehab. He gets to know you on a professional and personal level, and really does care about helping you. Excellent in regards to his 1 on 1 attention to you as a patient, as he's not handling multiple clients at a time. Helped in my rehab on both knees having pain, along with foot pain that came about during my rehab with my knees. Scheduling was easy, he was very flexible, and provided exercises to do while in therapy, along with at home. I would highly recommend Andrew Moy at Amplify!

Most patients feel meaningful change within 4 to 6 visits. A full plan runs through all four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform, and Prevent, usually over 8 to 10 weeks depending on how long you have been dealing with it. Either way you get a plan with an endpoint, so you always know which phase you are in and what is left.
No. Illinois has direct access, so you can book an evaluation with a Doctor of Physical Therapy without a physician referral. Some insurance plans still ask for one before they will pay, so we check your benefits before your first visit and tell you exactly where you stand.
Yes. Every session at Amplify Physical Therapy and Wellness is one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, every visit, for the full hour. You are never handed to an aide and never share your appointment with another patient, which is why your plan can be adjusted in real time as your body responds.
