Weeks 1–2
Pain
Get your side of the bed back.
Hands-on work settles the irritated tendon and joint, and night pain is usually the first thing to change.
What We Treat
The top shelf you handed to somebody else. The side of the bed you gave up. It’s fixable, and it starts with a cause-first evaluation, not a guess.

Why It Happens
Your shoulder is a shallow joint held together mostly by muscle. That’s what makes it move so well, and what makes it easy to irritate. Usually it’s some mix of four things: a rotator cuff tendon asked to do more than it can currently handle. A shoulder blade that stopped gliding, so the cuff gets pinched at the top of every reach. A joint capsule that tightened up and took your motion with it. And a stiff mid-back and neck, quietly stealing the last twenty degrees overhead.
Which one you have changes the plan completely. A frozen shoulder and an angry rotator cuff need almost opposite things, and guessing wrong costs you months. That’s what a cause-first evaluation is for. You’re the one who carries things for other people, at work and at home. Which is exactly why your own shoulder has been at the bottom of the list. One hour with Dr. Moy is where that changes.
The Honest Truth
Nobody regrets starting too early. Every week, someone in our clinic says they regret waiting.
How We Fix It
Every plan has an endpoint. Here’s what the four phases look like for a shoulder.
Weeks 1–2
Pain
Hands-on work settles the irritated tendon and joint, and night pain is usually the first thing to change.
Weeks 2–6
Prime
Joint and soft tissue mobility give back the overhead range the shoulder has been guarding, plus the mid-back motion it borrows.
Weeks 6–10
Perform
Progressive rotator cuff and shoulder blade loading, built up to real weight, not three sets with a yellow band.
Weeks 10+
Prevent
Overhead work, lifting, and your sport get tested under real load before you’re cleared to go all-in: that’s the endpoint, not just another appointment.
I went to amplify with a shoulder injury. I was scheduled to have therapy for six sessions. I absolutely enjoyed every one of my sessions. I needed so much correction and this was perfect. The one on one experience is unmatched. Each visit I felt sore, but definitely stronger. The assigned home workouts were easy and manageable. Andrew was very nice and had great bedside manner/ hospitality. The facility is very clean and well kept. I'm supposed to wear my glasses, but didn't, so I had a hard time finding the place at first. The only takeaway I have is a bigger sign would be helpful...or may it would just be helpful if I wore my glasses? 😆 My sessions felt like I was going to see a friend who just so happened to specialize in physical therapy. I wouldn't recommend anyone else. Amplify physical therapy is amazing.

Most patients feel meaningful change within 4 to 6 visits. A full plan runs through all four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform, and Prevent, usually over 8 to 10 weeks depending on how long you have been dealing with it. Either way you get a plan with an endpoint, so you always know which phase you are in and what is left.
No. Illinois has direct access, so you can book an evaluation with a Doctor of Physical Therapy without a physician referral. Some insurance plans still ask for one before they will pay, so we check your benefits before your first visit and tell you exactly where you stand.
Yes. Every session at Amplify Physical Therapy and Wellness is one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, every visit, for the full hour. You are never handed to an aide and never share your appointment with another patient, which is why your plan can be adjusted in real time as your body responds.
