Sound Familiar?

Does this sound like you?

  • Lifting a full coffee mug with two hands, because one is a gamble
  • A jolt through your elbow every time you turn a key or a doorknob
  • Waking at 2am to shake your hand awake, then doing it again at 4
  • Handing the jar to someone else after three tries and a towel
  • Shaking out your wrist between emails without even noticing you do it
  • Taping the elbow before league night and hoping it holds up

Why It Happens

Elbow and wrist pain is a symptom. Something causes it.

You grip something thousands of times a day without thinking about it. Tendon pain at the elbow usually isn’t damage. It’s a tendon that stopped keeping up with how much you ask of it. Numbness and tingling are a different story: that’s a nerve getting squeezed where it passes through a tight tunnel at the wrist or the inside of the elbow. Add a stiff wrist, a weak shoulder feeding the arm, and a keyboard or tool setup that never changes, and it keeps getting reloaded before it can settle.

Tendon and nerve need very different treatment, and a brace does not tell you which one you have. That’s what a cause-first evaluation is for. You use your hands for everybody else all day long. Which is exactly why you haven’t stopped to get them looked at. One hour with Dr. Moy is enough to know what’s driving it and how long it takes to fix.

The Honest Truth

Waiting on an elbow doesn’t make it wait on you.

If you keep waiting

  • Your grip fades quietly, and you start choosing jobs around what your hand can hold
  • Tendon pain that runs past a few months takes a lot longer to settle down
  • A nerve you keep ignoring can leave numbness that outstays the pain

If you start this week

  • You know whether it’s tendon or nerve by the end of visit one
  • Hands-on work and a smarter way to grip start before you leave the building
  • You get a plan with an endpoint: a real one, not an open tab of visits

Nobody regrets starting too early. Every week, someone in our clinic says they regret waiting.

How We Fix It

The same four phases. Built for your grip.

Every plan has an endpoint. Here’s what the four phases look like for an elbow, wrist, or hand.

Weeks 1–2

Pain

Take the jolt out of it.

Hands-on work, and dry needling when it fits, calm the irritated tendon or crowded nerve, starting your very first visit.

Weeks 2–6

Prime

Give the nerve room to move.

Wrist, forearm, and elbow mobility restore the motion the area has been guarding, so the nerve stops getting pinched all day.

Weeks 6–10

Perform

Build a grip you can trust.

Progressive loading rebuilds what the tendon can handle, and shoulder strength stops the small muscles from covering for the big ones.

Weeks 10+

Prevent

Return better than before.

Your keyboard, your tools, your racquet get retested under real load before you’re cleared to go all-in: that’s the endpoint, not just another appointment.

From the moment we walked in, he was incredibly attentive, thoroughly explaining my son's condition and creating a personalized treatment plan that addressed his specific needs. His positive attitude, genuine care, and skilled hands made even the most challenging exercises feel manageable for my son, and I saw remarkable progress in him in a short amount of time. Questions, Answered

What people ask before booking for elbow, wrist & hand pain.

Most patients feel meaningful change within 4 to 6 visits. A full plan runs through all four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform, and Prevent, usually over 8 to 10 weeks depending on how long you have been dealing with it. Either way you get a plan with an endpoint, so you always know which phase you are in and what is left.

No. Illinois has direct access, so you can book an evaluation with a Doctor of Physical Therapy without a physician referral. Some insurance plans still ask for one before they will pay, so we check your benefits before your first visit and tell you exactly where you stand.
