What It Is

One stiff joint. One quick move.

Spinal manipulation is a small, fast, controlled movement applied to one stiff segment of your spine. The whole thing takes about a second. It is one technique inside your plan, not the plan itself.

Your spine is a stack of joints that are supposed to share the work. When one stops gliding, the segments above and below cover for it, and that is usually where the ache, the stiffness, and the nerve irritation show up. Manipulation gives that stuck segment its motion back.

About the pop. That sound is gas releasing inside the joint capsule, the same as cracking a knuckle. Nothing is snapping back into place, and the noise is not the goal. Motion is. You’ve spent years telling people you just have a bad back. Let someone actually test whether that’s true.

What It Helps

For the joint that simply won’t move.

Not every back needs this. When one segment is genuinely locked, it’s the quickest way to hand the motion back.

What A Session Looks Like

Nothing happens by surprise.

1

Dr. Moy screens your spine segment by segment. Is it safe for you? Not everyone is a candidate, and he checks first.

2

You hear exactly what’s coming and where, before he touches you. You can decline it.

3

A quick, shallow movement. Maybe a pop, which is only gas in the joint. Then we move it, so the change holds.

Why It Works

What one second can buy you.

Motion back in a segment that was stuck.

Less pressure on an irritated nerve.

Muscles let go once the joint stops guarding.

No medication, no needles, no surgery.

Questions, Answered

What people ask about spinal manipulation.

Your first visit starts with a cause-first evaluation, not a treatment off a menu. Spinal Manipulation is used when the evaluation says it is the right tool for what is driving your symptoms, and it is delivered one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy for the full hour.

Amplify Physical Therapy and Wellness is in network with BCBS PPO and Medicare, and out of network with Aetna and United Healthcare. There is also a cash-based option with the price agreed up front. We check your benefits before your first visit so you know the cost before you commit.

Most patients feel meaningful change within 4 to 6 visits. Your plan moves through the four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform, and Prevent, so there is a defined endpoint rather than an open-ended run of appointments.
