Weeks 1–2
Pain
Get the leg pain to back off.
Hands-on techniques and the right positions take pressure off the irritated nerve, starting your very first visit.
What We Treat
The shoes you put on sitting down. The line of fire down one leg that decides your morning. It’s fixable, and it starts with finding the actual cause.

Why It Happens
Your back doesn’t hurt for no reason, and it’s almost never one thing. Usually it’s a mix of four. A disc crowding a nerve root, which is what sends that line of pain down the leg. Spinal joints that stiffened up and stopped sharing the load. Deep stabilizers that switched off after your last flare and never switched back on. And hips that stopped bending, so your back does the bending for them, forty times a day.
None of that shows up in a five minute look or on a stretching printout. It takes a cause-first evaluation to sort out which one is driving yours, because disc pain and joint pain need different plans. You’re the one everybody leans on. Which is exactly why you’re the last one to get looked at, and exactly why you’re reading this. Find the real cause, and the fix gets obvious.
The Honest Truth
Nobody regrets starting too early. Every week, someone in our clinic says they regret waiting.
How We Fix It
Every plan has an endpoint. Here’s what the four phases look like for a back and a sciatic nerve.
Weeks 1–2
Pain
Hands-on techniques and the right positions take pressure off the irritated nerve, starting your very first visit.
Weeks 2–6
Prime
Targeted mobility restores motion in the stiff spine and hip segments that have been quietly guarding the injury.
Weeks 6–10
Perform
Progressive core and hip strengthening builds the support your spine was missing in the first place.
Weeks 10+
Prevent
Lifting, bending, and twisting get tested under real load before you’re cleared to go all-in: that’s the endpoint, not just another appointment.
I had shoulder surgery last year (torn rotator cuff, torn bicep, torn labrum, bone spur and bursitis). I was referred to Dr. Andrew Moy for more aggressive physical therapy after a bad fall 2 weeks post-surgery. Recovery was slow and very tough. I definitely had days when I was feeling down about my progress but Dr. Moy always encouraged and reminded me about my accomplishments and hitting my goals. He was always friendly, nice to chat with and easy to contact when needed. Scheduling was easy, the text and email reminders were great, and the facility is modern and always very clean. After 8 months, I am happy to say that I am finally done and healed! I will highly recommend Dr. Moy to anyone and I will definitely be back in the future if needed.

Most patients feel meaningful change within 4 to 6 visits. A full plan runs through all four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform, and Prevent, usually over 8 to 10 weeks depending on how long you have been dealing with it. Either way you get a plan with an endpoint, so you always know which phase you are in and what is left.
No. Illinois has direct access, so you can book an evaluation with a Doctor of Physical Therapy without a physician referral. Some insurance plans still ask for one before they will pay, so we check your benefits before your first visit and tell you exactly where you stand.
Yes. Every session at Amplify Physical Therapy and Wellness is one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, every visit, for the full hour. You are never handed to an aide and never share your appointment with another patient, which is why your plan can be adjusted in real time as your body responds.
