Cold Compression Therapy in Bolingbrook.

Cold and steady compression working together, for the days when swelling, not just pain, is what’s in your way.

What It Is

Cold calms it. Compression moves it out.

Two weeks after the surgery, the knee still won’t bend past a certain point. The ankle still doesn’t fit the shoe. It isn’t only sore, it’s full, and full joints don’t move.

Cold compression therapy does two jobs at once. A wrap around the joint circulates cold while it inflates and releases in slow cycles. The cold takes the sharpness out of the pain and slows the inflammation. The pressure pushes swelling fluid away from the area, then lets fresh circulation back in.

That is the difference from plain cold. If pain is the main problem, cold alone may be enough. If swelling is what’s blocking your range, this is the one. And you’re the person who scheduled surgery around everyone else’s calendar, so let’s not let the recovery drift into stiffness you then have to fight for months.

What It Helps

When swelling is what’s in the way.

Swelling doesn’t just hurt. It blocks range, shuts down the muscle around it, and stalls everything else you are trying to do.

What A Session Looks Like

Snug, cold, and on a timer.

1

The wrap goes around the joint over a layer, snug but never squeezing. You tell Dr. Moy when it’s right.

2

Cold circulates while the pressure builds and eases in slow cycles. Sharp cold for a minute or two, then it fades to numb.

3

He checks your skin the whole way through, then it comes off and you test the range you just got back.

Why It Works

What less swelling gives back.

The joint bends further, same visit.

The tight, full pressure feeling lets go.

Post-surgical swelling stops running the schedule.

Your exercises get easier to tolerate.

Questions, Answered

What people ask about cold compression therapy.

Your first visit starts with a cause-first evaluation, not a treatment off a menu. Cold Compression Therapy is used when the evaluation says it is the right tool for what is driving your symptoms, and it is delivered one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy for the full hour.

Amplify Physical Therapy and Wellness is in network with BCBS PPO and Medicare, and out of network with Aetna and United Healthcare. There is also a cash-based option with the price agreed up front. We check your benefits before your first visit so you know the cost before you commit.

Most patients feel meaningful change within 4 to 6 visits. Your plan moves through the four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform, and Prevent, so there is a defined endpoint rather than an open-ended run of appointments.
