We measure the pressure for your limb, then set the cuff there. Nothing is guessed.
Services
When your joint cannot take heavy weight yet, a measured cuff lets light loads do that work instead.
What It Is
Three weeks after surgery, you look down and the leg belongs to someone else. Muscle leaves fast when a joint cannot be loaded, and every week you wait is muscle you spend months buying back.
Blood flow restriction is a cuff placed on the arm or leg and inflated to a pressure measured for that limb. It limits blood flow just enough that light weight, usually 20 to 30 percent of what you would normally lift, makes the muscle work like a heavy set. The muscle gets the stimulus. The healing joint does not get the load.
You’re used to earning progress by adding weight to the bar. That has always worked, and right now it isn’t available, which is the whole reason this tool exists. It is not right for everyone, so Dr. Moy screens your history first and tells you either way.
Pressure measured for your limb, watched every set
What It Helps
Post-surgical knees, hips and shoulders. Cranky arthritic joints. Any limb that has gone quiet while you waited.
What A Session Looks Like
1
We measure the pressure for your limb, then set the cuff there. Nothing is guessed.
2
You lift light, around a quarter of your normal load. The burn still shows up.
3
It comes off between sets. Dr. Moy is next to you the whole time, watching it.
Why It Works
You build strength while the joint still rests.
You leave sore in the muscle, not the joint.
The weeks you would have lost still count.
A way forward when heavy lifting is off the table.
Questions, Answered
Your first visit starts with a cause-first evaluation, not a treatment off a menu. Blood Flow Restriction is used when the evaluation says it is the right tool for what is driving your symptoms, and it is delivered one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy for the full hour.
Amplify Physical Therapy and Wellness is in network with BCBS PPO and Medicare, and out of network with Aetna and United Healthcare. There is also a cash-based option with the price agreed up front. We check your benefits before your first visit so you know the cost before you commit.
Most patients feel meaningful change within 4 to 6 visits. Your plan moves through the four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform, and Prevent, so there is a defined endpoint rather than an open-ended run of appointments.
