Why It Happens
A collision loads your neck and back faster than any muscle can react. Ligaments, small spinal joints, and the deep neck muscles take that load. None of it shows up on a standard X-ray. Then the area guards. Muscles clamp down to protect what is irritated, motion drops, and headaches follow. Symptoms often arrive two or three days later, once the adrenaline is gone.
A cause-first evaluation checks each segment of your neck, your jaw, and your mid-back. It finds what is actually irritated instead of treating the whole region at once. You have been telling everyone you are fine since the day it happened. Saying it louder has not made your neck turn any further. Questions about claims or coverage belong with your insurer or your attorney. Your visits here are documented in detail, and those records are yours.
The Honest Truth
Nobody regrets starting too early. Every week, someone in our clinic says they regret waiting.
How We Fix It
Every plan has an endpoint. Here is what the four phases look like once the adrenaline wears off.
Weeks 1–2
Pain
Hands-on work settles the irritated joints and muscles, and the headaches that come with them, from visit one.
Weeks 2–6
Prime
Graded mobility restores rotation, so checking a blind spot stops being a whole-body maneuver.
Weeks 6–10
Perform
Deep neck and mid-back strengthening restores the muscles that could not react fast enough during the impact.
Weeks 10+
Prevent
Desk hours, long drives, and lifting get tested before you are discharged. That is the endpoint, not an open file.
Andrew is an excellent physical therapist. He takes personal time to explain things and gives very good targeted exercises. He sent me the exercises through email and text messaging. The exercises were clearly shown with pictures. I was able to do the exercises at home and reinforce the best practices through weekly visits with Andrew. Amplify Physical Therapy is a place where you can get excellent therapy with a personal touch.

Most patients feel meaningful change within 4 to 6 visits. A full plan runs through all four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform, and Prevent, usually over 8 to 10 weeks depending on how long you have been dealing with it. Either way you get a plan with an endpoint, so you always know which phase you are in and what is left.
No. Illinois has direct access, so you can book an evaluation with a Doctor of Physical Therapy without a physician referral. Some insurance plans still ask for one before they will pay, so we check your benefits before your first visit and tell you exactly where you stand.
Yes. Every session at Amplify Physical Therapy and Wellness is one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, every visit, for the full hour. You are never handed to an aide and never share your appointment with another patient, which is why your plan can be adjusted in real time as your body responds.
