Sound Familiar?

You’ve had this longer than you admit out loud.

  • Explaining the same pain to a new provider for the fourth time this year
  • Checking the forecast because you already know how Thursday is going to feel
  • Saying yes to the dinner, then quietly hoping somebody cancels it
  • A drawer with three braces, two creams, and one bottle you stopped refilling
  • Waking at 3am to shift positions, then lying there doing the math on sleep
  • Hearing “your scans look fine” and translating it as “nobody believes me”

Two or more? You are not imagining it. Keep reading.

Why It Happens

Long-lasting pain is not permanent pain.

Pain that outlasts healing changes how your nervous system behaves. The alarm gets louder, even when the damage is not getting worse. Muscles around the area guard around the clock, so they turn stiff and weak at the same time. Joints stop sharing load, and the tissue next door picks up work it was never built for. Then moving hurts, so you move less, and the loop pulls tighter.

That loop has a starting point, and it is findable. A cause-first evaluation traces which tissue, which joint, and which daily habit keep feeding it. That is why a pill or a printed stretch sheet only turns the noise down. You are the one everyone else leans on. Which is exactly why you are last on your own list, and exactly why you are reading this.

The Honest Truth

Chronic pain does not get bored and leave.

If you keep waiting

  • The alarm keeps getting more sensitive, so smaller things start setting it off
  • You cut one more thing out of your week, and it quietly never comes back
  • Guarding muscles keep weakening, which gives the pain more reasons to stay

If you start this week

  • You leave visit one with a cause, not another guess
  • Hands-on treatment starts in that same hour, with Dr. Moy himself
  • You get a plan with an endpoint, not an open tab of visits

Nobody regrets starting too early. Every week, someone in our clinic says they regret waiting.

How We Fix It

The same four phases. Built for pain that stayed.

Every plan has an endpoint. Here is what the four phases look like when pain has been around a while.

Weeks 1–2

Pain

Turn the volume down.

Hands-on treatment and dry needling settle the irritated tissue and calm an over-sensitive alarm, starting your first visit.

Weeks 2–6

Prime

Move without bracing.

Graded mobility work gives back the motion your body has been guarding, in doses that do not trigger a flare.

Weeks 6–10

Perform

Build tolerance you can feel.

Progressive strengthening raises your capacity, so a normal day stops costing you the next two.

Weeks 10+

Prevent

Keep the flare from running your month.

You leave with flare-up rules, load limits, and a home plan you actually understand. That is the endpoint, not another appointment.

My visits with my Physical Therapist Andrew Moy was Maggical! I feel much better after I started Treatments and felt even better with each new session. Andrew was responsive to my needs, listened to my concerns and made a plan to get me back to less pain, better sleep and stronger mussels so I can get ready for my rotator cuff surgery. I am less afraid and more prepared for what's to come and just pray I will be able to continue with Andrew Moy after my surgery. If you ever need a great Therapist for your owies, please contact Andrew Moy before going anywhere else, you will be grateful you did, Thank you

Questions, Answered

What people ask before booking for chronic pain.

Most patients feel meaningful change within 4 to 6 visits. A full plan runs through all four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform, and Prevent, usually over 8 to 10 weeks depending on how long you have been dealing with it. Either way you get a plan with an endpoint, so you always know which phase you are in and what is left.

No. Illinois has direct access, so you can book an evaluation with a Doctor of Physical Therapy without a physician referral. Some insurance plans still ask for one before they will pay, so we check your benefits before your first visit and tell you exactly where you stand.

Yes. Every session at Amplify Physical Therapy and Wellness is one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, every visit, for the full hour. You are never handed to an aide and never share your appointment with another patient, which is why your plan can be adjusted in real time as your body responds.
